Policy Statement and Notification Protections

TITLE VI OF THE CIVIL RIGHTS ACT OF 1964
“No person in the United States shall, on the grounds of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.”
FILING A TITLE VI COMPLAINT
Any person who believes he or she has been aggrieved by an unlawful discriminatory practice under Title VI may file a complaint with People For People. Any such complaint must be in writing and filed within 180 days following the date of the alleged discriminatory occurrence.

AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT PROGRAM
The Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) provides civil rights protections to individuals with disabilities including equal access to public transportation. Transit providers, such as People For People, must take specific steps to ensure public transportation services are accessible to individuals with disabilities. Some important requirements that are in place to assist Americans with disabilities use transportation services are:
- Lift equipment to load wheelchairs.
- Priority seating for the disabled.
- Transportation personnel that operate accessibility equipment safely.

DISADVANTAGED BUSINESS ENTERPRISE (DBE) PROGRAM
People For People’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program demonstrates continued commitment to the success of minority/and women-owned businesses by promoting contracting opportunities to DBEs.
People For People’s DBE program is governed by the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) 49 CFR Part 26. Disadvantaged businesses wanting to take advantage of the opportunities afforded to them under the DBE program must be at least 51% owned by one or more individuals who are both socially and economically disadvantaged or, in the case of a corporation, in which 51% of the stock is owned by one or more such individuals, and controlled by one or more of the socially and economically disadvantaged individuals who own it.
